Overview

The Senior Pressure Washing Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of aerial lifts, pressure washing equipment, and related cleaning tools to maintain and restore the appearance of campus and facility assets. This position leads Pressure Washing Technicians in advanced exterior cleaning of building surfaces, structures, and associated components using high-pressure washing systems, detergents, degreasers, and specialized cleaning additives. The Senior Pressure Washing Technician assesses cleaning requirements, selects appropriate cleaning methods and chemicals, and ensures all work is completed in accordance with safety regulations, environmental guidelines, and departmental standards. The technician operates and maintains aerial work platforms and pressure washing equipment, performs routine equipment inspections and preventive maintenance, and provides guidance and training to other technicians. A thorough understanding of cleaning agents, surface restoration techniques, fall protection requirements, and safe operating procedures while working at heights and around occupied facilities is required. The technician is expected to exercise sound judgment and maintain a high level of workmanship.

Responsibilities
  • Oversight of Pressure Washing Technicians to operate and maintain aerial work platforms and pressure washing equipment.
  • Performs routine equipment inspections and preventive maintenance and serves as a lead worker by providing guidance and training to other technicians.
  • Exercise sound judgment and maintain a high level of workmanship.
  • Operate pressure washing equipment, aerial lifts, and related tools safely and efficiently to clean exterior building surfaces and structural/non-structural components.
  • Select and properly apply detergents, degreasers, surfactants, and other cleaning agents based on surface type and cleaning requirements.
  • Maintain, inspect, troubleshoot, and perform routine preventive maintenance on pressure washing equipment and accessories to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Monitor inventory levels and order cleaning supplies, detergents, chemicals, equipment parts, and related materials as needed.
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of cleaning products, their applications, and safe handling procedures.
Qualifications
  • Required Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Advanced education: Advanced trade school certification preferred
  • Required Experience: 4-5 years of experience, or trade school and experience. (Experience may substitute for trade school education on a year-to-year basis.) 6 years preferred
  • Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Thorough understanding of cleaning agents, surface restoration techniques, fall protection requirements, and safe operating procedures while working at heights and around occupied facilities. Ability to use a pressure washing system and an aerial lift. Knowledge of various cleaning detergents, degreasers, and additives. Knowledge of proper pressure washing techniques and surface protection materials. Ability to determine surface protection needs and effectively communicate with departmental personnel, staff, and faculty.
