Job Description

This position will assist the Air Conditioning Foreman and mechanics in the performance of assigned duties. Incumbent will provide support to other areas of Facilities services as requested. Individual will also assist in evaluating the needs of each system to maintain critical heating and cooling systems on campus.



Responsibilities


  • Assist Foreman and mechanics with monitoring, repairing, and installing air conditioning and heating systems on campus.

  • Monitor and correct any deficiencies in HVAC systems as directed.

  • Able to understand the type and purpose of each system used to maintain the buildings and areas of the entire campus.

  • Investigate technical problems and determine the best solution to maintain service to campus areas.

  • Instruct junior mechanics in the proper protocols and repair procedures.

  • Report job information to supervision including any repairs or deficiencies found and the parts or materials needed to correct the condition.

  • Responsible for reporting job information to supervision, including system repairs, deficiencies, necessary parts or materials, and any unsafe practices or conditions.

  • Report and correct any unsafe practices or condition to supervision.



Qualifications

  • Education:

    • High School diploma or GED

    • EPA refrigerant handling certificate



  • Experience:

    • Four years of experience in a mechanical trade. (Four years of vocational school or technical training can substitute for experience.)



  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

    • Ability to understand standard equipment operating and handling safety protocols

    • Needs mechanical knowledge and skills to service and repair HVAC systems and related equipment

    • Ability to maintain a good leave record

    • Ability to follow given instructions and keep records
