Job summary

Shawmut Design and Construction in New York seeks a Senior Preconstruction Planner to lead early-stage planning for high-profile projects, guiding RFQs, RFPs, interviews, and preconstruction to ensure feasible, safety-driven roadmaps.

You will collaborate with estimating, marketing, operations and senior leadership to craft detailed schedules, balance risk and constructability, and support ~200 proposals annually, delivering clear plans across regions.

Qualifications

• 20+ years of construction management experience required.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and work experience.
• Experience leading construction management teams in the preconstruction phase on $50m-$300m projects.
• Proficiency in Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office Suite, Procore Management.
• Preferred: Revit and Navisworks.
• Experience with developing General Condition and Project Requirement studies.
• Experience developing master schedules including front-end design and procurement requirements.
• Proven ability to lead complex projects from preconstruction through execution.

Responsibilities

• Lead site logistics, prepositioning, and RFQ/RFP-stage activities.
• Develop outline schedules, logistics/phasing plans, and preconstruction narratives.
• Collaborate with marketing, estimators, operations, and leadership to craft integrated work plans.
• Lead risk identification and contribute to mitigation strategies.
• Ensure safety, quality, and constructability are integrated into all planning deliverables.
• Coordinate hand-off meetings to align planning with execution.
