Job summary

Cherry Coatings in Charlotte, NC seeks an experienced Preconstruction Manager to lead estimating and preconstruction efforts on commercial painting projects over $1M. The role focuses on mentoring teams, delivering solid estimates, and developing strong relationships with customers, architects, and contractors.

The ideal candidate has 5–10 years in commercial painting, excellent reading of plans and specs, and proficiency with PlanSwift, PlanGrid, Building Connected, and MS Excel.

Qualifications

• 5-10 years of progressive growth in commercial painting.
• Strong estimating experience required.
• High level of fluency in reading plans, specifications and related documents.
• Competent with PlanSwift, PlanGrid, Building Connected and MS Office Suite (Excel).
• Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment, with office and field hours.

Responsibilities

• Mentor, coach, and develop all team members.
• Attend job site visits to review conditions and input with operations managers.
• Deliver solid estimates for entire project scopes.
• Ensure complete bid and cost evaluation; mitigate risks.
• Respond to RFPs and make formal presentations for projects.
• Review bid documents for completeness and accuracy.
• Develop and monitor a preconstruction schedule and pipeline.
• Manage estimating pipeline and bid win rate via Building Connected.
• Present project schedule projections and coordinate with Field Operations.
• Develop market pricing knowledge and engage with customers.
• Attend industry meetings to improve company presence and relations.
• Establish and maintain relationships with customers, project teams, and vendors.
• Know the market and pricing dynamics; analyze wins/losses.
• Know customer base and job types and build relationships with PreCon teams.
• Analyze wins and losses.
