Job summary

The California State University Long Beach (CSULB) is seeking a senior-level Preconstruction Manager to lead Design & Construction Services. You will supervise Major and Minor Capital Project Managers, Interior Design Managers, and staff augmentation resources, ensuring projects advance from intake through preconstruction in coordination with stakeholders.

Responsibilities include overseeing design development, procurement, and budgeting, while maintaining CSU and State standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or related field.
• 10+ years of progressively responsible full-time work experience in a related field.
• At least 5 years supervisory experience required.
• Seven years of related experience in design and construction in a similar role.
• LEED AP certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead Project Managers, Design Manager(s), and staff augmentation personnel; manage workload, hires, and performance; mentor staff and ensure engagement.
• Oversee project intake, feasibility, scope, budget, design development, and procurement; conduct design reviews and ensure compliance with standards.
• Coordinate hand-off to Construction Management and Facilities Management; liaise with campus departments and leadership; develop procedures and tracking systems.
