Job summary

California State University, Long Beach seeks a Preconstruction Manager to lead Design & Construction Services, supervising Major/Minor Capital Project Managers and interior design managers, including staff augmentation from private firms.

The incumbent oversees project intake, planning, design development, procurement, and preconstruction execution, coordinating with campus stakeholders and Facilities Management as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or related field.
• 10+ years of progressively responsible full-time work experience in a related field.
• At least 5 years of supervisory experience.
• Seven years of related experience in design and construction in a similar position.
• Experience managing projects over $5 Million.
• LEED AP certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Leadership for Project Managers, Design Manager(s), and staff augmentation personnel; conduct performance evaluations and manage workload.
• Oversee project intake, feasibility, scope, budget, and design development; direct preconstruction phases through permitting and procurement.
• Coordinate hand-off to Construction Management and Facilities Management; lead meetings and report project status.
