Interv_l Group specializes in high‑stakes EPC and renewable energy project delivery across the Texas market. We seek a senior preconstruction leader to shape front-end strategy, evaluate opportunities, and align design, estimating, procurement and construction teams for scalable delivery.

You will drive constructability reviews, risk assessment, and pricing alignment while coordinating with owners, utilities and partners to secure profitable execution through mobilization and handover.

Responsibilities

• Lead front-end strategy for complex renewable energy and electrical infrastructure projects.
• Assess new opportunities for safe, competitive, and profitable delivery.
• Establish project delivery plans across design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and grid energization.
• Direct input from estimating, engineering, scheduling, procurement, commercial and operations teams.
• Review budgets, contingencies, margins, cash flow and cost exposure.
• Challenge incomplete designs and identify issues affecting construction performance.
• Set approach for major equipment, subcontract packages and long-lead procurement.
• Lead constructability, logistics and site-readiness reviews.
• Ensure changes in scope or design are reflected in pricing and contractual position.
• Support negotiation of EPC agreements, technical schedules and package scopes.
• Present recommendations and delivery strategy to executive leadership.

Job description

I’m looking to connect with senior preconstruction professionals interested in current and upcoming opportunities across the Texas renewable energy and power infrastructure market.

This level of position would give you significant influence over how major EPC opportunities are evaluated, structured and prepared for delivery.

You would lead projects through the period where many of the most important decisions are made before the construction team mobilizes and while there is still an opportunity to improve scope, cost, schedule and risk.

What will you be taking ownership of?

• Leading the front-end strategy for complex renewable energy and electrical infrastructure projects
• Assessing new opportunities and determining whether they can be delivered safely, competitively and profitably
• Establishing project delivery plans covering design, procurement, construction, commissioning and grid energization
• Directing input from estimating, engineering, scheduling, procurement, commercial and operations teams
• Reviewing project budgets, contingencies, margins, cash flow and cost exposure
• Challenging incomplete designs and identifying issues that could affect construction performance
• Setting the approach for major equipment, subcontract packages and long-lead procurement
• Leading constructability, logistics and site-readiness reviews
• Ensuring changes in scope or design are reflected in pricing, program and contractual position
• Supporting the negotiation of EPC agreements, technical schedules and package scopes
• Presenting recommendations, commercial exposure and delivery strategy to executive leadership
• Acting as a senior contact for project owners, utilities, consultants and delivery partners
• Overseeing several opportunities simultaneously and prioritizing resources across the portfolio
• Improving preconstruction procedures, estimating controls and project handover standards
• Coaching Preconstruction Managers, Project Engineers and other contributing team members
• Remaining involved through award and mobilization to ensure commitments made during bidding are carried into delivery

What kind of background could suit this?

You may currently be a Senior Preconstruction Manager, Preconstruction Director, Senior Estimating Manager, Senior Project Manager or Construction Manager with significant front-end project experience.

The strongest candidates are likely to bring:

• A track record supporting large or technically complex EPC projects
• Experience within utility-scale solar, BESS, substations, transmission or grid infrastructure
• Strong knowledge of the relationship between design development, estimating, procurement and construction
• The ability to evaluate project risk beyond the headline cost estimate
• Experience developing or reviewing execution schedules and resource strategies
• Confidence working with EPC contracts, scope documents, commercial qualifications and change mechanisms
• Experience negotiating with project owners, engineering partners, OEMs, vendors and subcontractors
• A practical understanding of civil, structural and electrical construction requirements
• Knowledge of high-voltage equipment, interconnection facilities or transmission construction
• Experience leading major bids, internal approvals or executive-level project reviews
• The ability to manage multiple pursuits at different stages of development
• Evidence of improving processes, developing teams or raising the quality of project planning
• Strong commercial judgment and the confidence to challenge unrealistic project assumptions

Experience within ERCOT and the Texas contractor, utility or developer market would be highly valuable. Candidates with comparable experience delivering major projects elsewhere in the United States are also encouraged to apply.
