Job summary

Fleet Data Centers is seeking a Preconstruction Director to own the owner-side preconstruction for mega-scale campuses, guiding the effort from concept and design through estimating, procurement strategy, buyout, and Notice to Proceed (NTP).

This senior role leads the two site-assigned Preconstruction Managers, sets standards, and ensures a bought-out, de-risked scope aligned to Fleet’s cost, schedule, and reliability goals. On-site presence is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CM/Engineering/Architecture or equivalent practical leadership experience.
• 15+ years in preconstruction, estimating, and/or delivery on large-scale, mission-critical or hyperscale projects.
• Proven ability to lead and develop a preconstruction team and to partner effectively with design, development, Supply Chain, and construction leadership.
• Advanced proficiency with estimating systems, Procore (or equivalent), Microsoft Office Suite, and scheduling software.

Responsibilities

• Own Campus Preconstruction: accountability for the full preconstruction effort—design management, estimating, procurement strategy, and buyout—through NTP.
• Lead the Preconstruction Team: develop site-assigned managers; set priorities; balance workload; resolve conflicts; ensure high-quality output.
• Set Standards & Governance: establish estimate formats, milestone gates, benchmarking, logs, and risk registers across campuses.
• Design-to-Budget Alignment: partner with design/engineering and development to keep design aligned to budget and resiliency requirements.
