Job summary

Vistra Corporate Services Company in Irving, Texas seeks a senior project manager to independently manage pre-construction for utility-scale solar, transmission lines, and energy storage projects. Lead FEL 2 and FEL 3, develop cost estimates and EPC budgets, and oversee preliminary engineering in collaboration with construction and commissioning teams.

You will develop scope of work, RFPs, coordinate environmental reviews, site surveys, and ensure alignment with optimized energy production

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in project management in construction, engineering or directly related field.
• Experience with pre-construction engineering / project-development initiatives such as site-layout/optimization, transmission interconnection requirements, procurement/contracting, and pre-construction management specifically in the utility-scale renewables industry preferred
• Ability to look critically at a problem set, identify unique solutions, and influence change.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills – to be applied across the organization and externally, including the ability to confidently and effectively explain engineering requirements, including to non-technical audiences.
• High level of expertise with Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work with and manage confidential information
• BS in Electrical Engineering preferred
• Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable to above skills

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute FEL scope of work. Support construction team in development of project scope of work and exhibits in support of EPC procurement.
• Manage preconstruction services from early development to the start of construction.
• Conduct critical issues analysis and de-risk the project through the FEL process.
• Coordinate environmental site surveys, internal environmental reviews, and obtain environmental agency approvals.
• Oversee review of preliminary engineering designs for renewable projects.
• Coordinate site surveys (geotechnical, topography, and ALTA).
• Manage internal and external engineering resources in early development of renewable power plant designs.
• Develop project estimates (Class 5, 4 and 3-) and align with project objectives.
• Support internal teams for customer RFP responses and EPC RFP activities.
• Facilitate and maintain relationships with contractors and engineering firms during bidding, analysis and estimating processes.
• Support construction teams in resolving design and constructability challenges.
• Obtain required pre-construction permits such as zoning, building, road use.
• Ensure preliminary design, costs, schedules, and other information meet objectives prior to handoff for construction
