Job summary

Fleet Data Centers is seeking a senior Preconstruction Director to lead the owner-side preconstruction of mega-scale data center campuses in the US. This role carries accountability from concept and design development through estimating, procurement strategy, buyout, and Notice to Proceed (NTP), then hands off a de-risked scope to Construction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related technical field, OR equivalent practical preconstruction leadership experience.
• 15+ years of preconstruction, estimating, and/or delivery experience on large-scale projects, including 7+ years owner-side preferred.
• Proven ownership of campus-level budgets, contracting strategy, and long-lead procurement across CSA and MEP/Power scopes.
• Ability to lead and develop a preconstruction team and partner with design, development, Supply Chain, and construction leadership.
• Advanced proficiency with estimating systems, Procore (or equivalent), MS Office, and scheduling software.

Responsibilities

• Own Campus Preconstruction: accountability for full preconstruction effort through NTP.
• Lead and develop the site Preconstruction Managers; align priorities across campuses.
• Establish preconstruction standards, milestone gates, and risk registers for repeatability.
• Design-to-Budget Alignment: keep design aligned to budget and resiliency requirements.
• Procurement roadmap, long-lead equipment, and buyout leadership through NTP.
• Risk ownership and handoff: maintain risk register and ensure a clear transition to Construction.
