Job summary

New Hanover County Schools seeks a Pre-Kindergarten Coordinator to support the Early Childhood Education program in Wilmington. The role reports to the Director of Early Childhood Education and focuses on implementing and reporting required preschool expectations.

The position requires advanced degrees in education, licensure, and at least five years of teaching experience, with emphasis on classroom management and program evaluation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or Early Childhood Education (B-K) or PreK-Add-On Licensure and/or NC Early Educator Certification.
• Master's Degree in Education or field of Administration (preferred).
• At least 5 years of teaching experience.
• High knowledge of appropriate practices for managing challenging behaviors in the classroom.

Responsibilities

• Assist the director with implementation and reporting of required local, state and federal expectations for preschool children.
• Maintain ongoing evaluation of the program's effectiveness and recommend adjustments within funding guidelines.
• Acquire proficiency in Environmental Rating scales and/or other assessment instruments and NC Child Care Licensing and Sanitation requirements.
• This is a 12-month position.
