Job summary

Plona Partners, in partnership with a prominent Am Law 100 firm, seeks a Senior Practice Management Specialist to oversee strategic, financial, and operational management of several transactional practices. This is not an administrative role; you will work closely with Practice Group Leaders and senior leadership on business performance and strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Practice Management or professional-services operations experience.
• Law firm experience strongly preferred.
• Strong financial and operational analytical capabilities.
• Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP.
• Experience analyzing budgets, utilization and performance metrics.
• Confidence communicating with partners and senior firm leadership.
• Exceptional organization and attention to detail.
• Strong judgment, discretion and problem-solving ability.
• The ability to independently manage multiple high-priority projects.

Responsibilities

• Drive strategic and operational initiatives across transactional Practice Groups.
• Lead and coordinate annual Practice Group budgeting.
• Prepare financial reports, variance analyses and spend summaries for leadership.
• Monitor attorney allocations, Practice Group budgets and business development spend.
• Analyze utilization, expenses and other operational performance metrics.
• Support Practice Group and individual attorney business planning.
• Build and improve reporting tools used by Practice Group leadership.
• Support lateral attorney onboarding and Practice Group integration.
• Coordinate attorney departure and transition processes.
• Prepare leadership meetings, financial updates and strategic follow-up.
• Work cross-functionally with Finance, Recruiting, HR, Marketing & Business Development, Professional Development, Pricing, Innovation, IT and Knowledge Services.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting and operational efficiency.
