NAQC Investigation Team’s primary objective is to identify a range of quality issues within the North American market and implement targeted corrective actions to minimize quality problems in the field. This ensure alignment with the increasing demands of sophisticated consumers, contributing to the company’s overall success. Hyundai Motor Group North America Quality Center (NAQC) is currently looking for a PT/EV Sr. Engineer at Chino/Irvine, CA office who will:

Be a part of investigation team to conduct various types of PT/EV related field investigations to collect duplication data and analyze the data to identify the root cause and share findings through technical investigation report. The candidate is expected to have knowledge of inner workings of Powertrain and EV electronics/components and should have troubleshooting / root cause analysis skills to identify a problem and provide appropriate resolutions. The individual will be required to collaborate with the various stakeholders (i.e. HMG Quality Team, HMG R&D, suppliers, North American affiliates) to plan / execute joint activities to achieve a common goal.

  • A self-starter with automotive background to work on various electronic problems with minimal supervision
  • A great communicator who can convey his/her ideas to various audiences. (Ex. entry-level engineer to corporate executives)

On a day-to-day basis, the PT/EV Senior Engineer …

  • Leads quality investigations with involved stakeholders to identify and resolve quality issues
  • Identifies problem replicating conditions from evaluating unique driving patterns of customers from different North American regions
  • Studies warranty analysis of current models to provide continuous engineering support throughout the vehicle’s full life cycle
  • Validates countermeasure software and once published, continuously monitors field data to track its effectiveness
  • Keep track of department’s KPI to meet the set target
  • Identifies major quality issues for the PT/EV systems and provide Engineering analysis and research reports
  • Researches, procures, and maintains new technology, tools, and methods for data acquisition or analysis.
  • Conducts Benchmarking of competitor vehicles to analyze their strengths and weaknesses
  • Collaborates with different departments to resolve complex, system-interconnected issues
  • Coaches, counsels, and guides junior engineers

Candidates considered will...

  • Have Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Automotive Engineering, or a related field
  • Overall 6+ years of experience in automotive field investigation or related technical areas
  • 3+ years of direct experience in automotive PT/EV systems
  • Strong foundational knowledge of powertrain and EV system principles, including related subsystems
  • Proven track record in delivering engineering projects related to field investigations, testing, validation, research, and benchmarking of powertrain and EV systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and an ability to clearly explain deeply technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong collaboration and leadership skills, with experience working across global affiliates and cross-functional teams
  • Working knowledge of vehicle communication networks and DAQ tools (e.g., ETAS INCA, Intrepid VehicleSpy, Vector CAN / Ethernet Suites).
  • Some domestic and international travel required
