Job summary

Polaris Inc. is seeking an experienced engineer to lead the design and development of transmission, driveline, and engine systems from concept through production. You will own geartrain components, perform analyses, and collaborate with suppliers and validation teams to deliver robust powertrain solutions.

The role demands expertise in gear/shaft design, drivetrain analysis tools, and GD&T/FMEA/DVP&R. Competitive pay in Minnesota plus comprehensive benefits is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years in mechanical, powertrain, transmission, driveline, or gear design.
• Experience with 3D CAD modeling; Creo preferred.
• Experience with gear, shaft, bearing sizing, and chain drive systems.
• Experience with drivetrain analysis tools such as MASTA, ROMAX, KISSsoft or similar.
• Experience with GD&T, FMEA, DVP&R, and tolerance analysis.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead design of driveline, transmission, and engine systems from concept through production.
• Develop schedules for system, subsystem, and component design to meet timing objectives.
• Create conceptual and detailed designs for gears, shafts, bearings, splines, chain drives, and related components.
• Perform drivetrain analysis including gear mesh and load modeling.
• Conduct DFMEA, FEA and evaluations to ensure performance.
• Lead design reviews and collaborate with stakeholders and owners of interfacing systems.
• Select manufacturing methods and work with suppliers on DFMA.
• Create and maintain 3D CAD models, drawings, and design documentation.
• Support validation activities including DVP&R planning and execution.
• Investigate and resolve supplier, manufacturing, testing, and field issues using structured problem solving.
• Coordinate internal and external engineering resources as needed to support program execution.
• Provide technical mentorship and share best practices across the organization.
