Job summary

Teck's Red Dog Operations seeks a Powerhouse Operator Journeyperson to install, maintain, and repair diesel engines and power-generating equipment at the Red Dog Mine in Alaska. You will support a 2-weeks-on/2-weeks-off rotation and ensure safe, reliable power for operations.

The role requires seven years of Prime Power diesel experience, knowledge of Wartsila engines, and strong maintenance and troubleshooting skills to sustain continuous power generation in a remote mining environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Seven years' experience in operating and maintaining a Prime Power Diesel plant.
• Experience machining cylinder head surfaces/pockets and facing of valve seats.
• Ability to read and understand operations and maintenance manuals.
• Knowledge and maintenance experience of Wartsila diesel engines.

Responsibilities

• Be a courageous safety leader, through promotion and adherence to established policies, procedures and safe work practices.
• Operate and maintains the Powerhouse, including 8 Wartsila engines and related systems; perform repairs and maintenance.
• Disassemble machinery to remove parts and perform repairs; replace and align components.
• Perform required Preventative Maintenance procedures.
• Troubleshoot equipment and inspect for defects; use tools to complete repairs.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area and accurate repair records.
