Job summary

Cushing Terrell in Bend, Oregon, is seeking a Senior Protection & Studies Engineer to lead our protection practice for substations, distribution systems, and industrial facilities. You will design, analyze, and implement protection schemes and coordinate relay settings, serving as a technical authority.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering.
• 8+ years of related experience.
• Knowledge of National Electrical Safety Code and National Electrical Code.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (or ability to obtain by comity).
• Advanced knowledge of electrical systems analysis software, ETAP preferred.
• Experience with protection design for substations, distribution, and industrial installations.
• Ability to prepare fee proposals, studies and reports.
• Ability to work independently or under supervision of a Senior Engineer or Project Manager.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, analysis, and implementation of protection schemes for substations, distribution systems, and industrial facilities.
• Perform system studies, develop protection schemes, coordinate relay settings, and review designs for code compliance.
• Serve as technical authority, provide mentorship and support to teams.
• Help expand and develop the firm’s protection capabilities and grow the team.
• Collaborate across disciplines on sustainable projects and influence technical direction.
