Job summary

PROPWR in Houston seeks a Principal Engineer to lead power generation systems engineering across the organization, setting standards, and guiding system integration and field deployment. You will mentor a high‑performing team, drive reliability and safety improvements, and partner with executive leadership on technology investments and performance strategies.

This is a senior leadership role requiring PE licensure, 15+ years in power/industrial environments, and willingness to travel up to 25%

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
Minimum 15+ years of progressive engineering experience in power generation, electrical systems, microgrids, utilities, distributed energy, or industrial power applications.
Minimum 5+ years of engineering leadership experience managing teams and projects.
Extensive experience with power generation systems, switchgear/transformers/protection, AC/DC power systems, and medium-voltage systems.
Experience with commissioning, field deployment, and system integration.

Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team supporting PROPWR’s power generation projects.
Establish and maintain engineering standards, procedures, governance, and technical best practices across the organization.
Build a culture of safety, accountability, innovation, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
Serve as the senior technical advisor to executive leadership regarding engineering strategy, technology investments, and system performance.
Own the technical direction of PROPWR’s full system, including generators, turbines, electrical distribution, switchgear, controls, and balance-of-plant equipment.
Lead engineering reviews, design evaluations, system architecture decisions, and technical risk assessments.
Oversee SAT, commissioning, and performance validation; review control logic and interconnection methods.
Manage vendor, supplier, OEM, and technology-partner relationships to ensure alignment with standards.
Travel up to 25% for field deployments and project support.
