Job summary

Electric Power Systems, Inc. (EPS) seeks a Senior Power System Electrical Engineer to join our Alaska team. You will lead design, studies, protection & coordination for substations and diesel power plants, and mentor junior engineers.

Responsibilities include coordinating with subject matter experts, developing controls for multi-technology integrations, preparing technical reports, and managing projects from scope to delivery. PE licensed or Alaska-eligible is required.

Qualifications

• Proven team leader with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Experienced in project scoping, estimating, and detailed electrical design.
• Experience mentoring entry-level engineers.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with AutoCAD, SEL, Woodward, Comap, Basler, GE, ETAP, EasyPower, SKM and PowerWorld.
• Knowledge of VFD controls and applications.
• Field experience preferred.
• Microgrid, power plant or utility experience is a plus.
• Experience in off-grid applications and integration of wind, solar, hydro generation preferred.
• Ability to perform site visits and work with clients.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate on substation design, power system studies, protection & coordination.
• Serve as technical lead project manager among 40+ engineers.
• Analyze LV/MV power systems, design substations and power plants.
• Develop controls for integrating multiple generation technologies.
• Prepare technical reports using Microsoft Word.
• Develop proposals, scopes and schedules.
• Manage projects independently, coordinating data requests and client comments.
• Provide technical oversight to other engineers.
