Thea Energy in New Jersey seeks a Senior Electrical Distribution Systems engineer to lead high/medium-voltage design, grid interconnection, STATCOM, and energy storage integration for the Eos stellarator project. You will define substations, MV/LV distribution, grounding strategies, and protection philosophies.

Responsibilities include detailed load-flow, short-circuit, and transient stability simulations, interface with EPCs and utilities, and contributing to a plant-wide energy management

Qualificações

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems or related field
• 7+ years of experience in power systems engineering
• Experience with medium- and high-voltage distribution (up to 230kV preferred)
• Proficiency in electrical system modeling and simulation tools such as ETAP, PowerFactory, SKM Power Tools, or PSCAD
• Strong understanding of IEEE, NFPA, IEC standards, grounding calculations, and utility interconnection requirements
• Experience in power systems for fusion devices or accelerators
• Familiarity with BESS systems, UPS, and energy management systems (EMS)
• Experience coordinating with utility providers, EPC contractors, and third-party interconnection consultants
• Understanding of power supply dynamic behavior and grid stability
• Knowledge of SCADA/EMS integration, protective device coordination, and commissioning procedures
• Simulation & Analysis: ETAP, PowerFactory, PSCAD, SKM, CYME
• CAD & Design Tools: AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, Revit MEP
• Exceptional work ethic and communication skills

Responsabilidades

• Lead the design of the Eos power distribution architecture, including power supply systems, MV/LV distribution, switchgear, and critical backup circuits
• Define grounding, neutral earthing, surge protection, and lightning protection strategies
• Evaluate grid interconnection, backup generators, STATCOM, and BESS integration for load balancing and UPS capability
• Run load flow, short-circuit, and transient stability simulations with ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, or PSCAD
• Model time-varying load profiles for power supply systems and assess steady-state vs transient energy demands
• Contribute to plant-wide power management strategy and load shedding philosophy
• Develop technical specifications, single-line diagrams, protection philosophies, and equipment layouts
• Lead technical requirements for external EPC firms for final design, construction, and commissioning
• Participate in design reviews, FAT/SAT, vendor interface, and field verification of electrical systems
