Job description

Eaton's ES AMER ESS division is currently seeking a Senior Power Systems Controls Engineer.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $80,250.03 - $117,700.04. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline and is based on candidate skills, experience, qualifications, market, and business considerations. What you'll do:

The Senior Power System Controls Engineer will provide field service systems integration engineering and technical consultation. Responsibilities include system design, programming, installation, start-up, maintenance, repair, training, and modification of automated control systems and power management systems.

The Power Systems Controls (PSC) group is a full-service systems integrator with capabilities to provide complete power automation solutions. The team has extensive skills with various HMI software, equipment manufacturers, software packages, and network architectures, including OEMs' HMI, PLCs, and components. We focus on cost-effective solutions, seamless integration, HMI development, energy management tools, and turnkey system design and implementation.

In this role, you will:
  • Travel up to 50% of the time
  • Prepare project submittal documentation and meet with customers to discuss requirements
  • Follow customer and internal specifications for project implementation
  • Program PLCs for applications such as automatic transfer controls, paralleling switchgear, load shedding, microgrid operations, and breaker control schemes
  • Ensure proper controls, metering, and monitoring, including power meters, automation equipment, relays, load sharing, and synchronization
  • Select components and create bills of materials
  • Develop project drawings, review, and approve them; may also complete CAD drawings
  • Write operating sequences and manuals
  • Assist with factory testing and field start-ups
  • Work with test equipment and diagnostics for automation and power management systems
  • Troubleshoot systems as needed
  • Work with relay logic and digital multifunction relays for genset protection and utility requirements
  • Provide technical support to Manufacturing and Sales Departments
  • Quote turnkey control schemes, analyze specifications, and prepare proposals
Qualifications:

Required (Basic):

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with at least 3 years of controls experience, or 7+ years in power distribution controls
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel up to 50%
  • No relocation benefits offered; candidates must reside in specified states

Preferred:

  • PE License
  • Knowledge of SCADA systems and protocols (Modbus, DNP3, IEC-61850)
Skills and Success Criteria:
  • Active driver's license
  • Willingness to travel 50%
  • Strong customer focus and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain customer relationships
  • Advising customers on technical issues
