Job summary

Schneider Electric, within the CTO Data Center of the Future Tech Explore team, seeks a Senior Systems Engineer-Power Systems to join our Boston-area group. You will lead exploration of next‑generation data center power architectures, collaborating with divisions, customers, partners, and universities to shape design criteria.

The role involves modeling, validation, and development of control concepts, mentoring engineers, and presenting findings at workshops and industry groups.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 5+ years in power systems, data centers, or utility projects.
• Experience designing power architectures and reference designs.
• Experience with simulations and lab or field testing.
• Knowledge of North American and international standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead exploration of next-generation data center power architectures.
• Develop architectures from grid interface to IT load.
• Model load flow, short circuit, protection, transient, harmonic, and stability using ETAP/PSCAD/MATLAB.
• Assess how dynamic AI loads affect utilities, generators, UPS, storage, and distribution equipment.
• Lead proof-of-concept builds and validation tests.
• Develop control strategies for load smoothing, peak shaving, ride-through, grid support.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and incubation opportunities.
• Mentor engineers and represent Tech Explore at workshops and industry groups.
