Job Description
GDS Associates, Inc. offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional in our Power Supply Planning group. The role involves project management and analytical support, focusing on Pacific Northwest and Western power supply projects. GDS is a nationwide engineering and consulting firm specializing in energy utilities, with a growing practice in power supply planning for utility and developer clients across various markets in the U.S.

Responsibilities
Working independently, the candidate will:

• Prepare energy and capacity price forecasts and analyze market fundamentals and design changes.
• Assess supply resources economically and for risks.
• Oversee regional supply and modeling evaluations, especially of BPA post-2028 power supply.
• Advise clients on regional market issues such as WEIM, EDAM, WRAP, and SPP Markets+.
• Manage portfolio analytics for western supply planning clients, with potential for integration into national projects.
• Support BPA rate case reviews based on supply and rate fundamentals.
• Utilize industry models for detailed analytics.
• Contribute to projects by creating spreadsheets, graphics, and seeking peer reviews.
• Develop expertise in specific areas and stay current on industry topics.
• Communicate with clients via calls and presentations.

Experience and Skills
Candidates should have:

• Bachelor's in engineering, statistics, economics, or related field; Master’s preferred.
• At least 10 years of relevant experience in Pacific Northwest and western markets, including BPA tiered supply and rates.
• Familiarity with other markets like EIM, CAISO, ERCOT, MISO, NYISO, ISO-NE, PJM, SPP is a plus.
• Experience with production cost models is advantageous but not required.
• Knowledge of congestion, transmission rights, resource adequacy, RPS.
• Experience with renewable resources, storage, DERs, energy efficiency, and financial planning is a plus.
• Ability to work independently, with strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Effective communication skills and proficiency in MS Office.

Preferred Locations:
Kirkland, WA or West Coast Remote.
