Job summary

Western Farmers Electric Cooperative is seeking a Resource Planning Engineer to lead WFEC's resource planning activities and evaluate current and future generation capacity and energy needs.

The role involves evaluating traditional and non-traditional power resources, managing power supply contracts, and coordinating economic analyses for project comparisons to support decisions by management and the Board.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering is required.
  • PE license required for Senior Resource Planning Engineer as per job postings.

Responsibilities

  • Manages WFEC's resource plan, power supply contracts, and performs risk analysis relative to power and fuel commodities.
  • Evaluates, negotiates, administers, ensures compliance with, and analyzes power supply contracts; makes recommendations to management and the Board.
  • Evaluates contracts for new or proposed power supply resources and recommends approval to management and the Board.
  • Leads economic and financial evaluation of power projects and coordinates economic project comparisons.
  • Provides project management and engineering support for Resource Planning and other engineering projects.
  • Maintains knowledge of SPP tariff, policies, and procedures and how they affect WFEC's resource adequacy requirements.
  • Prepares and submits to SPP the Resource Adequacy Workbook (RAW) and related data/reports.
