Project Overview
TheContractor Personnel will serve as a senior technical resource supporting MDOTenterprise applications and business process automation using Microsoft PowerPlatform and Azure. Responsibilities include designing, developing,integrating, implementing,maintaining, and supporting secure, scalable,and maintainable solutions using Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Pages,Dataverse, Azure services, APIs, and enterprise data sources. Theposition will collaborate with MDOT stakeholders and technical teams to applybest practices in solution architecture, development, integration, security,governance, application lifecycle management, environment management, andCI/CD. The role will also provide technical leadership, promote reusablestandards, and ensure solutions are aligned with organizational securityrequirements and MDOT’s enterprise technology strategy.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Designing,developing, implementing, and maintaining scalable solutions usingMicrosoft Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Pages, Microsoft Dataverse,and related Microsoft Power Platform technologies.
- Designingand implementing governance, security, and compliance controls consistentwith organizational policies and Microsoft best practices.
- Developingreusable components, solution templates, custom connectors, plugins, andAPIs to promote standardization, maintainability, and reuse acrossenterprise initiatives.
- ManagingMicrosoft Dataverse environments, including data modeling, security roles,business rules, and solution configuration.
- IntegratingPower Platform solutions with enterprise applications, data platforms, andcloud services using Azure services, APIs, custom connectors, and otherapproved integration technologies.
- Designing,developing, deploying, and maintaining AI agents and AI-enabledcapabilities using approved Microsoft technologies.
- Supportingmultiple concurrent enterprise initiatives requiring coordinateddevelopment across Power Apps, Power Automate workflows, Power Pagesportals, Dataverse, Azure integrations, and enterprise data platforms.
- Ensuringthat all solution components are designed and implemented as secure,scalable, maintainable, and high-performing enterprise applications.
- SupportingApplication Lifecycle Management (ALM), including source control, solutionpackaging, environment management, deployment automation, and releasemanagement.
- Developing,maintaining, and supporting Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment(CI/CD) pipelines to enable consistent and reliable deployments acrossDevelopment, Test, and Production environments.
- Supportingplatform governance activities, including environment strategy, solutionmanagement, monitoring, documentation, and operational support.
- Collaboratingwith Government personnel, project managers, architects, businessstakeholders, and technical teams to ensure timely delivery of projectmilestones and successful implementation of enterprise solutions.
- Design,develop, implement, enhance, and support enterprise solutions usingMicrosoft Power Apps (Canvas and Model-Driven Apps), Power Automate, PowerPages, Microsoft Dataverse, and related Microsoft technologies.
- Architectscalable Power Platform solutions that align with enterprise architecture,business requirements, security standards, and Microsoft best practices.
- Design,develop, and maintain complex business workflows and process automationsolutions using Power Automate, Azure Logic Apps, Azure Functions, andother Azure integration services.
- Designand implement secure Power Pages solutions that provide authenticated andpublic-facing digital services while ensuring appropriate authentication,authorization, and data security.
- Configure,administer, and maintain Microsoft Dataverse environments, including datamodels, tables, relationships, forms, views, business rules, businessprocess flows, and role-based security.
- Developreusable components, custom connectors, plugins, APIs, and integrationservices that enable interoperability between Microsoft Power Platformsolutions and enterprise applications.
- Integrateenterprise applications with Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL, Oracle,PostgreSQL, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and other internal and externalsystems using REST APIs, web services, Azure services, and approvedintegration technologies.
- Implementand support Microsoft Power Platform governance, environment management,security controls, solution management, and platform administration inaccordance with organizational standards and best practices.
- SupportApplication Lifecycle Management (ALM) processes, including solutionpackaging, source control, environment management, automated deployments,release management, and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment(CI/CD) pipelines using Azure DevOps.
- Analyzebusiness and technical requirements and translate them into technicaldesigns, solution architectures, implementation plans, and detailedtechnical specifications.
- Troubleshootapplication issues, perform root cause analysis, optimize applicationperformance, and implement corrective actions to improve systemreliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
- Developand maintain technical documentation, including system design documents,architecture diagrams, standard operating procedures (SOPs), deploymentguides, support documentation, and operational runbooks.
- Collaboratewith business stakeholders, solution architects, project managers,developers, infrastructure teams, and vendors to ensure successfuldelivery of enterprise applications and technology initiatives.
- Ensureall applications comply with organizational cybersecurity requirements,secure coding practices, Microsoft Power Platform governance standards,Azure Active Directory (Microsoft Entra ID) authentication, role-basedaccess controls, and applicable regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Providesenior technical leadership by conducting code reviews, mentoringdevelopment staff, promoting development standards and best practices, andcontributing to the continuous improvement of enterprise applicationdevelopment processes.
- Evaluateemerging Microsoft Power Platform, Azure, and AI technologies andrecommend innovative solutions that improve business processes, increaseoperational efficiency, and support MDOT's digital transformationinitiatives.
Requirements
Education: This position requires a bachelor’s degreefrom an accredited college or university with a major in computer science,information systems, engineering, business, or a related scientific ortechnical discipline; or five (5) years of equivalent experience in a relatedfield. (Note: A Master’s degree is preferred.)
Required Experience
- Aminimum of eight (8) years of experience designing, developing,implementing, and supporting enterprise software applications.
- Aminimum of four (4) to six (6) years of hands-on experience developingsolutions using the Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps (Canvasand Model-Driven Apps), Power Automate, Power Pages, and MicrosoftDataverse.
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing MicrosoftDataverse data models, including tables, relationships, business rules,forms, views, and security configurations.
- Proficiencyindeveloping solutions using PowerFx, creating custom connectors, andintegrating Power Platform applications with enterprise systems.
- Experienceintegrating Microsoft Power Platform solutions with Microsoft Azureservices, Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory), Microsoft365, SharePoint, SQL Server, and other enterprise applications using APIsand web services.
- Experienceusing Azure DevOps and/or GitHub for source code management, ApplicationLifecycle Management (ALM), Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment(CI/CD), automated deployments, and release management.
- Thorough understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle(SDLC), including requirements analysis, solution design, development,testing, deployment, maintenance, and production support.
- Demonstratedability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues acrossapplication, database, integration, and cloud service layers withinenterprise environments.
- Abilityto manage multiple assignments simultaneously, deliver high-qualitysolutions within established schedules, and perform effectively withminimal supervision.
- Stronganalytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills withthe ability to work effectively with business stakeholders, technicalteams, and project managers.
