Job summary

Temple Generating Station is seeking an Operations Manager to lead day-to-day plant operations and a 21-person operations team. The role focuses on safety, reliability, and cost efficiency, reporting to the Plant Manager.

Ideal candidates have deep experience with gas and steam turbines, EH&S and NERC compliance, and proven leadership in a power generation setting. Occasional on-call and travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field; or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years in power plant operations/maintenance with gas and steam turbine knowledge.
• Proven leadership experience managing operational teams.
• Expertise with gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, controls, and monitoring systems.
• Knowledge of EH&S, NERC compliance, and industry best practices.
• Proficiency with MS Office, plant monitoring software, and reporting tools.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Experience managing operating budgets and costs.
• Valid driver's license and ability to respond to site emergencies.
• Physical ability to perform duties up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for daily operations and maintenance to meet safety, reliability, and financial targets.
• Recruit and develop a multi-skilled operations team.
• Plan with Maintenance Manager to maximize plant availability.
• Monitor plant performance and adjust strategies to optimize production and cost.
• Ensure EH&S compliance and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee documentation, logs, and reporting.
• Lead response to outages and emergencies, with 24/7 on-call support.
• Support budget development and monitor expenses.
