Job summary

Heron Power seeks a Senior Product Test Engineer, Energy Storage Applications, to lead application testing of the SST platform across data center, utility-scale, and PV use cases. You will develop test scripts in Python, run lab and pilot-site tests, and collaborate with SW/FW teams to close feature gaps.

You will also validate system-level interactions with DAS, SCADA, and EMS, write repeatable test automation, and ensure safe operation of high-power hardware throughout test campaigns.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in power electronics or energy storage hardware.
• Strong DC circuit fundamentals and data correlation with simulations.
• Strong scripting and test-automation skills to drive instruments and logs.
• Knowledge of power conversion, BMS, DC pre-charge and protection systems.
• Familiarity with CAN and Modbus TCP.
• Self-starter with initiative and hands-on mindset.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end application testing of a novel high C-rate battery pack with Heron's SST.
• Support SST and utility-scale BESS integration testing at pilot sites, including EMS-to-SST communication and grid-forming coordination.
• Support integration testing of the SST with DAS, SCADA, and EMS systems.
• Own Heron's first pilot deployments: analyze field performance and drive product improvements with SW/FW teams.
• Write and maintain Python-based test automation to control power converters and log data.
• Safely operate power converters, chillers, contactors, and protection hardware for high-power tests.
