Job summary

Heron Power Inc. is seeking a Senior Product Test Engineer, Energy Storage Applications to own application-specific testing of our solid state transformer (SST) across data centers, BESS, and PV applications.

You will bring up hardware in the lab and at pilot sites, write scripts to drive test equipment and power converters, and debug performance against each application’s needs. You will collaborate with Systems Integration to ensure SST platforms meet EMS/SCADA requirements, perform field

Qualifications

5+ years of hands-on experience in power electronics, energy storage, EV, grid, or a hardware-intensive setting.
Proficient scripting and test-automation to drive instruments and log data.
Working knowledge of power conversion and battery systems including BMS, DC pre-charge, contactors, protection, thermal loops.
Familiarity with lab instrumentation (oscilloscopes, power analyzers, DAQ) and protocols like CAN/Modbus TCP.

Responsibilities

Own end-to-end application testing of a novel high C-rate battery pack (SuperBBU) with SST.
Support SST and utility-scale BESS integration testing at pilot sites (EMS-to-SST, grid-forming, cycling).
Support integration testing of SST with DAS, SCADA, and EMS systems.
Own first pilot deployments: review field performance and drive product improvements with SW/FW teams.
Write and maintain Python-based test automation to command power converters and log data.
