Job summary

Trystar in Houston, TX seeks a Staff PCB Design Engineer – Power Electronics to lead PCB design and layout for high‑power systems, collaborating with electrical, mechanical, firmware, manufacturing, and compliance engineers to translate requirements into robust, manufacturable assemblies from concept through production release.

You will mentor other designers, lead design reviews, and help establish PCB standards and libraries across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/ Electronics Engineering or related field with 7+ years of PCB design experience.
• Extensive Cadence Allegro/OrCAD experience.
• Proven ability to take designs through production documentation.
• Experience with high‑voltage, high‑current, analog/digital/high‑speed PCB assemblies.
• Knowledge of creepage, clearance, EMI/EMC, thermal management.
• Ability to lead design reviews and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead PCB placement and routing for complex power electronics.
• Own PCB designs from floorplanning to production release.
• Develop layouts for high‑voltage and high‑current systems up to 2000 VDC / 600 VAC.
• Apply creepage, clearance, insulation coordination, grounding, thermal, EMI/EMC design practices.
• Define stackups, controlled impedance, routing constraints, via structures.
• Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers on schematic, packaging, thermal interfaces.
• Work with PCB fabricators and contract manufacturers to resolve DFM/DFA issues.
• Create and maintain footprints, padstacks, library content; lead PCB design reviews.
• Support environmental and regulatory requirements including UL/IEC/IPC.
• Design PCB‑based test hardware and programming fixtures.
