Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Senior Power Electronics Engineer to lead electrical design projects for fusion power systems. Reporting to the Director of Power Systems in the SPARC team, you will coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders and ensure high-quality design releases within schedule and budget.

• Design, model, simulate and validate power electronics circuits and components.
• Define components and develop technical requirements for power electronic systems.
• Develop test methods to qualify designs from concept through commissioning.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on electrical system designs for fusion power.
• Coordinate with procurement and vendor teams on critical milestones.
• Lead commissioning activities for power electronic systems.
• Document design specs, simulations and test results.

Responsibilities

• Design, model, simulate, analyze and validate power electronics circuits and components.
• Define components and develop technical requirements and specifications for power electronic converter systems and other electrical designs.
• Develop test methods to qualify design from concept through final testing and commissioning steps including troubleshooting of converter systems.
• Contribute to cross-functional technical design activities to design, build and deliver electrical system designs for fusion power.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on critical procurement contracts & vendor coordination efforts of critical technical and other project milestones.
• Define requirements and lead initial commissioning activities for power electronic systems.
• Document design specifications, simulations and test results into engineering reports.
