Job summary

Salient Motion, Inc. is seeking a Senior Power Electronics Engineer to lead design and integration of high-power (>10 kW) power conversion hardware for aerospace motion and electrical systems in Torrance, CA. You will own power-stage architecture decisions and drive prototype bring-up with cross-functional teams to deliver flight-ready hardware.

The role requires 7+ years in power electronics, hands-on lab experience, and strong EMI/EMC expertise. relocation is possible, with excellent benefits.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in power electronics design and product development for high-power systems (>10 kW).
• Experience with power converter/topology selection, gate-drive design, feedback gain and HV/HC PCB practices.
• Hands-on bring-up, debugging high-power hardware, and safety-oriented lab work.
• Ability to move from concept to prototype, verification and production readiness with documentation.

Responsibilities

• Architect and design high-power converters/inverters (>10 kW) for aerospace systems.
• Select Si/SiC/GaN devices, design gate-drive, feedback, protection and magnetic components.
• Define power stage topology, safe operating envelopes, derating per environment.
• Collaborate on thermal design with mechanical teams and validate thermal performance.
• Own EMI/EMC strategy for aerospace environments and ensure test readiness.
• Lead schematic capture, PCB layout reviews for high-current/high-voltage designs.
• Plan prototype bring-up and high-power lab testing with safe procedures.
• Develop verification plans and test reports; support supplier selection and DFM/DFT.
