Job summary

Amphenol Communications Solutions is seeking a Staff Engineer to lead product development for power connectors and cable assemblies. You will supervise design reviews, mentor engineers, and drive cost reductions while ensuring robustness across mechanical, electrical, and environmental requirements.

The role requires a Master’s degree in engineering, 6+ years of mechanical design experience, and strong Creo/Ansys skills.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in engineering is required.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in mechanical design and product development within electrical components, connector systems, or cable assemblies.
• Strong expertise in power connector design including contact, sealing, and cable interface.
• Proficient with 3D CAD (Cre o) and FEA software (Ansys/Workbench) for mechanical analysis.
• Experience with DFMEA, DFM/DFMA, and design for manufacturing and assembly.
• Proven leadership and ability to influence engineering, manufacturing, and customer functions.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication in a global environment.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally.
• Experience in product testing, validation, and qualification protocols.

Responsibilities

• Lead design reviews with cross-functional teams and align with customer expectations.
• Drive cost reduction through innovative design and manufacturing improvements.
• Introduce new technologies and design techniques to improve performance.
• Provide technical mentorship across the product development lifecycle.
• Lead training programs to elevate engineering capability in power connector design.
• Capture lessons learned and implement standardized design practices.
• Support full-cycle development of power connectors, contact systems, and cable assemblies.
• Design and optimize electrical contact systems for current, resistance, and thermal performance.
• Develop robust strain relief and sealed connectors with IP ratings.
• Translate VOC into engineering specifications through close collaboration with customers.
