Job summary

Smashr Global is seeking a Senior Power BI Developer to own BI solutions end to end, from data prep and modelling to dashboards used by business users. This is a fully remote, full-time role with a modern Microsoft data stack.

You will work with stakeholders to translate questions into secure, fast reports; set modelling standards, optimize performance, and guide colleagues on Power BI best practices. Requires PL-300 certification, strong DAX, and SQL experience.

Qualifications

• 4+ years hands-on experience developing Power BI solutions (Desktop and Service).
• Microsoft PL-300 certification (mandatory).
• Strong command of DAX, including complex measures and time intelligence.
• Solid experience with Power Query (M) and ETL for data cleansing and transformation.
• Proficiency in SQL: queries, joins, views and stored procedures for reporting.

Role Overview:

As a Senior Power BI Developer, you will own Power BI solutions end to end: from data preparation and modeling to dashboards that business users rely on every day. You will work directly with stakeholders to understand their questions, then design secure, fast and well-governed reports that answer them. This is a hands-on senior role. You will set modelling and DAX standards, tune performance, and guide others on Power BI best practice

Job Responsibilities:

• Dashboards and reports: Design, develop and publish interactive Power BI dashboards and reports in Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.
• Data modelling: Build robust star-schema data models with clear relationships, hierarchies and reusable measures.
• Complex DAX: Write and optimize advanced DAX measures, calculated columns and time intelligence calculations.
• Data transformation: Clean, shape and combine data from multiple sources using Power Query(M) and ETL processes.
• Performance tuning: Optimise report performance and dataset refresh, including query folding, incremental refresh and model size reduction.
• Security and governance: Implement row-level security (RLS), manage workspaces and access, and follow data governance standards.
• Stakeholder collaboration: Work with business stakeholders to gather requirements, translate them into reporting solutions and deliver actionable insights.
• Best practice: Document solutions, review peers' work and promote Power BI standards across the team

Job Requirements:

• 4+ years of hands‑on experience developing Power BI solutions (Desktop and Service). Microsoft PL-300 certification (mandatory).
• Strong command of DAX, including complex measures, filter context and time intelligence.
• Solid experience with Power Query (M) and ETL for data cleansing and transformation.
• Proficiency in SQL: writing queries, joins, views and stored procedures for reporting.
• Sound understanding of data modelling (star and snowflake schemas) and data visualisation principles.
• Experience implementing row-level security and managing Power BI workspaces, gateways and scheduled refresh.
• Ability to communicate clearly with business and technical stakeholders.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Available to join immediately or at short notice. Good to have Microsoft Power Platform: Power Apps and Power Automate for embedded apps and workflow/automation.
• Microsoft Fabric: Lakehouses, warehouses, Dataflows Gen2 and Direct Lake models.
• Python: For data preparation, automation or advanced analytics.
• Azure Databricks: Building or consuming data pipelines and Delta tables.
