Job summary

Meraki in San Jose is seeking a Senior Database Reliability Engineer to design, operate, and improve PostgreSQL-centric data services at scale.

You will collaborate with SRE, security, and software teams to boost availability and performance while reducing toil. Responsibilities include administering PostgreSQL infrastructure, building ETL pipelines, and handling on-call duties in a cloud environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years designing, operating, and troubleshooting PostgreSQL in production.
• Experience with cloud infra and managed data services, incl. PostgreSQL on Kubernetes and AWS.
• 5+ years managing production databases or distributed data systems across app, OS, storage, and network.
• 3+ years Linux systems engineering and automating infra with Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
• 2+ years scripting in Python, Bash, Go, Ruby, or Perl for automation.
• Experience in polyglot environments with non-PostgreSQL systems (Kafka, ClickHouse, Redis, MySQL, Cassandra, Elasticsearch).

Responsibilities

• As a Senior Database Reliability Engineer, you will help make Meraki's database and data systems reliable, scalable, secure, and operable.
• You will work with SRE, application engineering, security, and infrastructure teams to improve availability and performance, reduce toil.
• Plan, administer, maintain, and secure the PostgreSQL infrastructure in collaboration with SRE teams for high performance and reliability.
• Design, build, and maintain ETL pipelines for PostgreSQL, and develop procedures and scripts for data migration.
• Perform operational database administration tasks such as installation, upgrades, patching, backup/recovery, monitoring, capacity planning, and architectural changes in cloud environments.
• Participate in production operations such as on-call rotation, incident response, monitoring, alerting, and post-incident review processes.
