Job summary

Quantum Technologies. LLC in Sunnyvale seeks an experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator to handle day-to-day operations, performance tuning, and robust backup/restore strategies including PITR. You will work with cloud deployments on AWS and GCP, implement high-availability with Repmgr, Pgpool, and pgBackRest, and containerize with Kubernetes.

The role requires strong scripting (Shell/Python), and excellent collaboration across teams to support large-scale production databases.

Qualifications

• Experience administering PostgreSQL with emphasis on backups, PITR, and upgrades.
• Strong knowledge of replication and high-availability configurations.
• Hands-on performance troubleshooting for large, multi-terabyte databases.
• Cloud deployments on AWS and/or GCP, with containerized setups using Kubernetes.
• Scripting in Shell or Python for automation and monitoring.
• Ability to learn new technologies and collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Day-to-day database operations, monitoring, and performance tuning.
• Design, implement, and maintain backup/restore strategies (PITR).
• Plan and execute minor and major PostgreSQL upgrades.
• Manage HA/DR tooling (Repmgr, Pgpool, pgBackRest).
• Support cloud deployments and Kubernetes-based environments.
