Job summary

KellyMitchell is seeking a Cloud Platform Engineer / Senior PostgreSQL DBA in Oakland, CA. You will lead migrations of Oracle, SQL Server, and on-prem PostgreSQL to Amazon RDS and Aurora PostgreSQL, while ensuring admin, automation, monitoring, and performance support.

The role requires 10+ years of enterprise PostgreSQL experience and AWS certification, with onsite work in Oakland and occasional travel to San Ramon. Join a hands-on team driving secure, scalable database platforms.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of database administration experience with deep enterprise PostgreSQL expertise.
• Hands-on experience migrating Oracle and SQL Server databases to PostgreSQL.
• Strong experience administering PostgreSQL across production, development, QA, test, and disaster-recovery environments.
• Hands-on experience with Amazon RDS PostgreSQL, Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, and AWS database services.
• Experience with AWS DMS, AWS SCT, CloudWatch, AWS CLI, and Terraform.
• Expertise in PostgreSQL performance tuning, security, backup and recovery, replication, high availability, and migration validation.
• Current AWS certification is mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end migrations of Oracle, SQL Server, and on-premises PostgreSQL to Amazon RDS and Aurora PostgreSQL.
• Perform migration assessments, schema conversions, compatibility analyses, testing, cutover, validation, and handoff.
• Administer, configure, upgrade, patch, secure, monitor, and maintain enterprise PostgreSQL environments.
• Optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing, and workload analysis.
• Implement PostgreSQL backup, recovery, replication, high-availability, and disaster-recovery solutions.
• Automate database administration and provisioning with Terraform and AWS CLI.
• Troubleshoot incidents and coordinate with application and operations teams.
