The candidate must have 15+ years of senior-level DBA experience and be comfortable reviewing AWS cloud logs and communicating recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. The role is 100% remote for Utah residents with no weekly onsite requirement, though occasional onsite meetings may be requested.

Work Schedule: 40 Hours/Week | Monday–Friday

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator (DBA) with extensive expertise in PostgreSQL to support PostgreSQL-based applications running in AWS.

The ideal candidate will have at least 15 years of senior-level Database Administration experience, strong hands-on PostgreSQL expertise, and experience supporting cloud-based database environments.

This individual will work closely with software development teams to design, optimize, and troubleshoot database solutions. The candidate must also be comfortable reviewing AWS cloud logs, interpreting technical findings, and communicating recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert-level administration and technical guidance for PostgreSQL databases supporting applications hosted in AWS.


• Collaborate closely with software development teams to design, implement, and optimize database solutions.


• Review AWS cloud logs, analyze database-related issues, and interpret findings.


• Identify database performance issues and recommend effective solutions.


• Provide technical insights and recommendations to business and technical stakeholders.


• Communicate complex technical concepts, findings, and trade-offs clearly.


• Work collaboratively with the DHHS DPHIP team to support ongoing application and database requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 15+ years of professional experience as a Database Administrator (DBA).


• Extensive hands-on expertise and mastery of PostgreSQL.


• Strong experience supporting PostgreSQL applications running in AWS environments.


• Experience reviewing and interpreting AWS cloud logs.


• Ability to work closely with software developers on database design and optimization.


• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.


• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.


• 100% Remote – Candidates must currently reside in Utah.


• No weekly onsite requirement; occasional onsite meetings may be required.


• 12-month contract assignment.


• 40 hours per week.


• Video interview preferred.
