Job summary

Apple Inc. is seeking an experienced Software Data Architect for PostgreSQL within the AiDP team in Sunnyvale, CA.

You will help lead the technical direction of PostgreSQL at Apple, shaping engine internals, storage, replication, and high-availability to support Apple workloads at scale. As a committer and senior technologist, you will mentor engineers, collaborate with upstream communities, and ensure a robust, enterprise-grade database platform across Apple services, manufacturing, and AI/ML

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or related field with 10+ years of experience.
• Demonstrated, sustained contribution to PostgreSQL upstream.
• Strong proficiency in low-level programming and data structures.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and grow engineers, expanding Apple's PostgreSQL contributor base.
• Align Apple's PostgreSQL needs with the upstream community vision and drive consensus.
• Represent Apple in PostgreSQL community forums and conferences; advocate upstream-first strategies.
• Set technical direction and quality bars across query execution, storage, replication, and administration.
