Job summary

University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Lead Editor to serve as the primary post-production specialist for the Health Sciences Media Production team. You will edit video and audio, create motion graphics, color correct, manage assets, and ensure accessibility and quality standards.

You will collaborate with coordinators and faculty to meet project goals, establish best practices, and mentor junior staff while handling multiple projects in a hybrid on-campus/remote setup.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Film, Media Production, Digital Media, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Three years of professional experience in video editing, post-production, or digital media production.
• Expertise with professional editing and post-production tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud, DaVinci Resolve, or comparable platforms.
• Experience with video and audio editing, motion graphics, color correction, and digital media workflows.
• Strong creative, technical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects independently.

Responsibilities

• Perform video and audio editing, color correction and grading, motion graphics, visual effects, compositing, and audio mastering.
• Render, encode, and prepare completed media for appropriate distribution platforms.
• Ensure final deliverables meet established technical, accessibility, and visual standards.
• Manage multiple post-production projects and deadlines.
• Provide technical and creative guidance on post-production approaches and workflows. Establish and promote post-production standards and best practices.
• Ingest, organize, and manage video, audio, graphics, and other production assets.
• Work with faculty, staff, and other clients to understand project goals and gather feedback. Incorporate revisions and communicate clearly regarding deliverables and timelines.
• Collaborate with the Studio Manager, Production Coordinator, and production staff throughout the production process.
• Assist faculty, staff, and students with appropriate use of studio spaces, production equipment, and software.
• Troubleshoot media hardware, software, storage, and workflow issues. Perform routine equipment inspections and recommend repairs, upgrades, or improvements.
