Job summary

Allianz Life is seeking an AIM VP/AZL Director II - Portfolio Management to lead investment strategy and outsourced advisory efforts for external clients. The role emphasizes strong judgment, industry knowledge, and evident leadership in portfolio decisions.

The successful candidate will guide teams, assess managers and vendors, and ensure compliance with policies. You will report to the VP, Investment Management, and influence senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 11+ years of experience in financial services/investments.
• 7+ years of portfolio management experience.
• Demonstrated investment strategy development across portfolios.
• Experience evaluating external managers and vendors.
• Strong knowledge of markets, indicators, and risk management.
• Ability to analyze complex information and make decisions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for senior stakeholders.
• Ability to present portfolio results to committees.
• Strong relationship management with internal/external partners.
• Bachelor’s in Finance/Economics; CFA or advanced degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement investment strategies aligned with goals and guidelines.
• Own the end-to-end investment solutions roadmap and playbooks.
• Lead external client sessions and present investment solutions.
• Evaluate, select, and monitor external managers and vendors.
• Monitor market trends and portfolio performance to inform decisions.
• Manage portfolio risk and align with objectives and risk parameters.
• Present results to stakeholders and participate in Investment Committee.
• Develop governance policies for advisers and portfolios.
• Utilize AI tools as part of advisory work.
