U.S. Bank is seeking a Senior Portfolio Manager to build and lead a new Middle Market Originations team within the Institutional Client Group. You will oversee portfolio managers, drive credit decisions, and ensure compliance with policy and regulatory requirements.

The role emphasizes leadership, credit structuring, and collaboration with Relationship Managers to win and manage mid-market opportunities while maintaining sound risk controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience.
• 10+ years of banking experience.
• 5+ years of management experience.
• Significant Middle Market lending and underwriting experience.
• Proven track record of structuring and closing competitive credit transactions.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead the new team, including intake, workflow, and operating rhythm.
• Recruit, develop, and coach a team of experienced portfolio managers and early-career talent.
• Lead the credit assessment of new prospect opportunities from initial deal assessment through credit approval, documentation, and closing.
• Review and approve credit requests within delegated lending authority.
• Develop well-supported, credit structures balancing growth with risk management.
• Coordinate with Relationship Managers on prospect calls and provide clear credit feedback.
