Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Senior Polymer Chemist in Windsor, CT to lead the design, synthesis, and characterization of advanced polymer materials, adhesives and surfactant technologies. You will explore structure–property relationships and develop commercially impactful formulations.

The role requires deep expertise in polymer chemistry, demonstrated innovation from lab to marketplace, and collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, and commercial teams in a dynamic R&D environment.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Materials Science or related field.
• 15+ years of polymer synthesis, characterization, and structure–property work.
• Strong knowledge of silicones, adhesives, elastomers, and surfactant chemistry.
• Proven track record from research through commercialization and patent activity.
• Experience with DOE, statistics and experimental design.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, synthesis, and characterization of advanced polymeric materials, adhesives, elastomers, and surfactant-based technologies.
• Investigate structure–property relationships to unlock performance.
• Develop formulations balancing performance, manufacturability, cost and IP strategy.
• Design and execute research programs using DOE methodologies and data-driven decisions.
• Partner with engineering and manufacturing to scale technologies to production.
• Collaborate with suppliers, customers and research partners to accelerate innovation.
• Identify emerging technologies and strategic growth opportunities.
• Communicate findings through reports and presentations to leadership.
