Qualifications

• Advanced degree in political science, international relations, law, disarmament, arms control, or related field.
• Minimum of ten years progressively responsible experience in political science, international relations, law, disarmament, security, development management, or conflict resolution.
• Substantive support to the Security Council or its subsidiary organs; field mission, peacekeeping, or special political mission experience; report preparation for intergovernmental bodies.

Responsibilities

• Formulate political affairs strategies, propose policy directives, and develop action plans for political issues concerning the Security Council and its subsidiary organs.
• Plan and implement operational activities, provide substantive support to the Security Council, and integrate rights-based, conflict-prevention, and gender perspectives.
• Prepare briefings for senior leadership and supervise report drafting for the Security Council.
• Coordinate secretariat services for conferences and negotiations, lead and manage a work team, and supervise research on political issues.
