Job summary

Google Inc. in Washington, DC, USA, is seeking a Senior Policy Specialist for Google Play. You will help shape content policy, lead cross-functional discussions, and handle complex, high‑impact requests while balancing legal considerations to protect users and the platform.

The role emphasizes strong analytical capabilities, policy implementation, and collaboration with Product, Policy, Communications, and Legal teams to drive effective, scalable solutions. An on‑call rotation is included.

  • Be a thought leader for legal removals issues by identifying and analyzing content moderation trends and key policy issues affecting Google Play. Lead discussions with cross-functional stakeholders on regulations and implications.
  • Manage content operations and drive escalations of sensitive government requests by liaising with Product, Policy, Communications, and Legal teams.
  • Develop and launch scalable policies and guidelines for handling large volumes of requests based on regional trends and legal issues.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation to manage high-priority escalations outside standard hours including weekends/holidays.
  • Be comfortable around graphic, controversial, or upsetting content.

You are introduced to dynamic analytical techniques and you leverage custom-built technology to have a direct impact on improving the experience of millions of Google users. Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $136000 - $196000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

  • Be a thought leader for legal removals issues by identifying and analyzing content moderation trends and key policy issues affecting the Google Play Store. Lead discussions with cross-functional stakeholders on emerging regulations and its implications on legal removals landscape at Google.
  • Manage content operations and drive escalations of sensitive government requests, by liaising with Product, Policy, Communications, and Legal teams. Balance various legal considerations in order to effectively resolve issues.
  • Develop and launch scalable policies and guidelines for handling large volumes of requests, based on different regional trends and legal issues (data protection, copyright, defamation, etc.).
  • Participate in the on call rotation schedule to manage high priority escalations that may occur outside of standard non work hours including weekends/holidays.
  • Be comfortable around graphic, controversial, or upsetting content.
