Job summary

New York City Department of Social Services seeks an Agency Attorney III to act as Senior Advisor for the IDNYC program under the Deputy Commissioner. The role focuses on policy and legal matters, ensuring compliance with city, state, and federal rules.

You will coordinate with the DSS Office of Program Accountability and Office of Legal Affairs, draft and review legal and policy documents, and provide risk management guidance. SPI leadership representation is required at meetings and events.

Qualifications

• Admission to the New York State Bar is required.
• At least 1 year of U.S. legal experience after bar admission (or 6 months as an Agency Attorney Interne).

Responsibilities

• Lead policy and legal matters related to the IDNYC program and advise on applicable laws and regulations.
• Serve as liaison with the DSS Office of Program Accountability and Office of Legal Affairs to review laws, draft rule proposals, and provide guidance on risk and compliance.
• Represent SPI leadership at meetings and events; lead special projects spanning the SPI program portfolio as needed.
