Job summary

The Greater Chicago Food Depository is leading statewide and federal advocacy to protect SNAP in Illinois. The Senior Coordinator will drive stakeholder engagement, monitor policy developments, and coordinate cross-functional initiatives across local, state, and federal advocacy efforts.

This role supports campaigns, coalition work, and community engagement, including events, meetings, and volunteer mobilization. Cover letter is required for consideration.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years in advocacy, community organizing, political campaigns, volunteer engagement, nonprofit programs, or related field.
• Bachelor's degree and advanced degree in public policy, social work, public health, or related field preferred (not required).
• Excellent customer service, attention to detail, organizational and problem-solving skills with proven milestone achievement.

Responsibilities

• Provide project management and logistical support for lobbying events and meetings with officials.
• Draft advocacy-focused communications for diverse audiences and recruit/train advocates.
• Prepare issue briefs, packets, and stakeholder profiles for legislative meetings.
• Research policy developments and support coalition effectiveness and engagement.
• Build relationships with advocates and community leaders in the Champion Advocates program.
• Support Get Out the Vote efforts and partner volunteer engagement.
