Job summary

Duke University on-site maintenance team seeks a skilled technician for 2nd shift to perform installation, maintenance, and repair of pneumatic tube and related pipe systems. The role covers the Pneumatic Tube System and Pneumatic Trash and Linen Systems with a focus on reliability and efficiency.

The ideal candidate has six years of relevant maintenance experience, holds a NC license, and can lead maintenance tasks.

Qualifications

Educational background normally equivalent to a high school education with course work in skilled crafts.
State NC contractor's license in a specific trade may be required or preferred.
Minimum of six (6) years of maintenance and repair experience related to the specific trade or equipment with proven leadership skills.
Valid North Carolina Driver's license.

Responsibilities

Independently perform specialized technical tasks in troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of pneumatic tube/pipe equipment and systems.
Conduct periodic inspections and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
Maintain documentation for compliance, risers, IPs and inventory of parts and system components.
Manage inventory of carriers and ensure stations have required stock.
Consult with manufacturers for technical assistance and parts; coordinate pricing and requisitions.
Coordinate and manage outside vendors for repairs and renovation projects.
Attend manufacturer trainings and self-train on pneumatic systems.
Advise management on equipment condition and potential improvements for budget planning.
Provide training to maintenance staff and clinical staff on system use.
