Job summary

Duke University seeks a skilled Maintenance Technician to independently perform installation, maintenance and repair of pneumatic tube and pipe systems. This is a 2nd shift, on-site position in Durham, NC, focusing on the Pneumatic Tube System and the Pneumatic Trash and Linen Systems.

The role requires six years of related maintenance experience, a high school education with skilled crafts coursework, an NC driver’s license and, where applicable, an NC contractor's license.

Qualifications

  • High school education with coursework in skilled crafts; NC contractor's license may be required or preferred.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of maintenance and repair experience with proven leadership skills.
  • OR equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
  • Valid NC Driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform specialized technical tasks in troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of pneumatic tube/pipe equipment and systems.
  • Conduct periodic inspections and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain documentation for regulatory compliance, including riser diagrams, IP addresses, inventory and system components.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors for repairs and manage pricing and purchase requisitions for parts and materials.
  • Provide training and technical assistance to staff and clinical users of the systems.
