Job summary

Howard Building Corporation in Costa Mesa, CA seeks a Project Manager to lead fast-paced commercial interiors projects. You will own budgets, procurement, scheduling, and client relationships across teams, with a focus on constructability, value engineering, and risk management.

The role emphasizes mentoring junior staff, coordinating with subs and architects, and delivering safe, high-quality spaces on schedule. A strong communicator with GC experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial construction experience.
• Commercial GC experience required.
• Tenant improvement/commercial interiors/renovation experience preferred.
• Strong financial, estimating, scheduling, and contract-management skills.
• Effective communicator with clients and subs.
• Organized enough to manage details and see the big picture.
• Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft 365, and scheduling tools used daily.
• Construction Management/Engineering/Architecture degree preferred; equivalent experience counts.

Responsibilities

• Oversee project budgets, estimating, buyout, forecasting, billings, and cost control.
• Manage subcontracts, procurement, RFIs, submittals, change management, and project documentation.
• Coordinate schedule with the Superintendent and project team.
• Maintain client, architect, consultant, landlord, and subcontractor relationships.
• Lead preconstruction, constructability reviews, value engineering, and project planning.
• Identify project risks and implement problem-solving strategies.
• Oversee punch, closeout, financial completion, and warranty follow-up.
• Mentor APMs, Project Engineers, and team members.
