Job summary

Workday, Inc. is seeking a Senior Product Manager to own the Observability stack with a focus on distributed tracing and AI-powered detection. You will work with engineering, ML teams, and design to shape a scalable observability platform.

You will define requirements, model evaluation metrics, and runbooks for incident triage, while ensuring alignment with OpenTelemetry standards and routing insights to minimize MTTR.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of product management experience in observability or related tooling domains.
• Deep, demonstrable expertise in Distributed Tracing concepts and technologies (e.g., OpenTelemetry, Jaeger, Zipkin).
• Hands-on understanding of AI/ML techniques applied to detection and triage.

Responsibilities

• Own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for Observability with focus on Distributed Tracing.
• Define requirements for AI-enabled anomaly detection and model evaluation metrics.
• Partner with ML engineering to translate detection/triage needs into shippable features.
• Define and surface confidence scores, explainability, and human-in-the-loop for triage workflows.
• Collaborate with engineering to review designs and instrumentation approaches for OpenTelemetry.
