Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Mechanical Designer to contribute to designing plumbing systems for complex facilities projects. This role offers opportunities to work on potable water, sanitary, storm, and specialty systems across multiple locations including Madison, WI.

You will prepare drawings using AutoCAD and Revit, review standards, collaborate with engineers and architects, and help ensure QA/QC and sustainable design practices. A strong detail mindset and team orientation are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field.
• 9+ years of experience in plumbing design for building systems.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit; familiarity with plumbing codes.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively in a team.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and layout of plumbing systems for facilities projects.
• Prepare detailed drawings and cost estimates using AutoCAD and Revit.
• Review and apply client-specific and internal drafting standards to ensure compliance and high quality deliverables.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other disciplines to ensure coordinated designs.
• Follow QA/QC procedures and ensure all drafting work complies with standards.
• Support project development from concept through construction, ensuring codes compliance.
• Incorporate sustainable practices and future-ready solutions into plumbing designs.
• Participate in site surveys and inspections to verify conditions and support design accuracy.
• Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and best practices in plumbing design.
